Online money pots: amounts collected and platform revenue

This study analyses the economic performance of eleven online money pot platforms. We gathered the information these platforms publish to estimate the amounts they collect and their revenue.

Study carried out and published by Memorable, which itself runs an online money pot platform. Method and sources at the end of the article.

Amounts collected per year

In 2025, the platforms studied that publish their activity (HelloAsso, Leetchi.com, Le Pot Commun, Tribee and OnParticipe) collected €1.43 billion, of which €1.09 billion under an optional-commission model.

Under each amount: the change from the previous year. The greyed cells marked “commission” are years collected under a commission or service-fee model. For the total rows, the change only compares the platforms present, under the same model, in both years. Last column: average annual growth between the first and the last published year.

Scope. Each annual amount is attached to the remuneration model in force that year, according to the platform's public or archived pages. The “Total, optional commission” only counts the years under this model; the “Total, platforms studied” adds the years under a commission or service fees (Leetchi.com, Le Pot Commun until April 2026, OnParticipe until 2024, Papayoux).

How the 2025 amounts split between the platforms studied

Among the platforms studied that publish a 2025 amount (HelloAsso, Leetchi.com, Le Pot Commun, Tribee and OnParticipe), HelloAsso accounts for more than two thirds of the volume and Leetchi.com for about a fifth. Among the optional-commission platforms other than HelloAsso, Tribee and OnParticipe have similar volumes.

Revenue

Published revenue

Most companies in the sector file their accounts with a confidentiality declaration, as the law allows micro and small companies to do40. Their revenue is therefore rarely public. HelloAsso is the only platform whose revenue is known for every year from 2015 to 2024, through its accounts and the press, and for 2025 through its shareholder's financial report. Tribee published it for 2023 and 2024 in the report of its mission committee (the body a French “société à mission”, a company with a stated purpose, sets up to monitor it), and its founder gave the 2025 figure in a podcast.

Revenue in millions of euros. “conf.”: accounts filed with a confidentiality declaration. “NI”: only net income is public. “filed”: accounts filed without public revenue (abridged accounts). “—”: no filing found as of 9 October 2026.

Published net income

Net income is public more often than revenue: a company that keeps its profit and loss account confidential still publishes its balance sheet, which gives the year’s result. In the years published, HelloAsso makes a loss every year, as does Tribee in 2022. Le Pot Commun goes from Lakooz’s losses (2016–2020) to profits for the current company in 2023 and 2024. CotizUp is profitable in every published result: €23,120 in 2017 for the French company, €622,304 in 2021 and €1,615,727 in 2024 for the Irish company; OnParticipe is too, in its only published year, 2020.

Share of the amount collected received by the platform

Dividing revenue by the amount collected in the same year gives the share the platform received, on average, on each euro paid. The calculation is only possible when the same company publishes both figures for the same year: HelloAsso from 2018 to 2025, Tribee from 2023 to 2025.

  • HelloAsso, revenue (solid colour: filed accounts; light: declared)
  • HelloAsso, optional commissions declared by its shareholder
  • Tribee, declared revenue

Memorable calculation: revenue (or declared optional commissions) divided by the amount collected in the same year. Sources: 17 18 19 35 36 37 38 20 21 22 23 42 44 45 46 47 52 53 63 64 65 66 67 68 69

At HelloAsso, the share received falls as volume grows: from 4.25% in 2018 to 2.69% in 2024 according to revenue, and to 2.43% in 2025 according to its shareholder's financial report. At Tribee, it is 5.95% in 2023, 6.52% in 2024 and 6.55% in 2025.

The effect of the interface on the commission contributors leave is analysed in two other articles: the comparison of free money pots (in French), which records each platform's prefilled commission, and the study on the impact of the interface, which compares three screens on real money pots. The comparison also records what each platform writes about VAT on the commission and the receipt given to the contributor.

What the authorities can measure directly. Accounts filed with a confidentiality declaration remain available to the administrative and judicial authorities40. Comparing, for each platform and each period, the revenue from the optional commission with the amount collected would measure the performance of each interface directly, and how it varies when the interface changes. The figures gathered here, limited to what the companies publish, only give a first sketch of it.

Ratios that can be calculated but are not comparable

Two other ratios can be calculated from published figures, but they cover years when the platform was paid by a commission or service fees, not by an optional commission: OnParticipe in 2020 (commission per contribution)1 and Le Pot Commun around 202349. They are left out of the comparison.

Order of magnitude of the optional commissions received in 2025

For 2025, the amount received is known for HelloAsso (€24.1 million, its shareholder's report) and for Tribee (€3.3 million, its founder's statement). OnParticipe publishes its 2025 collection, €47.2 million, but not its revenue. Applying to it the lowest and the highest share observed in 2025 (2.43% at HelloAsso, 6.55% at Tribee) gives a range. This range is a Memorable hypothesis, which the company's publications do not allow us to check. Le Pot Commun, paid in 2025 by service fees deducted on the payout transfer (a prefilled optional commission only since April 2026), is not part of this calculation.

Is the optional commission the only source of revenue?

For HelloAsso, Tribee and CotizUp, the optional commission paid by contributors is presented as the only source of revenue. The other platforms combine it with payment fees charged separately, a commission on another offer, or other products. The table sets out what each platform writes in its public pages.

Method and sources

Method

Memorable runs an online money pot platform and is therefore part of the market studied. For this reason, this report only uses figures published by the companies themselves (activity reports, terms and conditions, press releases), by official registers (accounts filed with the commercial court registry, BODACC, France's official bulletin of civil and commercial notices) or by the press. Each figure links to its numbered source at the bottom of the page.

Totals and ratios between two published figures are Memorable calculations; they are flagged as such and their method is detailed platform by platform. No internal data from another company has been used. A company cited here that spots an error can write to [email protected]: the correction will be dated.

The figures come from four types of source: filed accounts (the “Ratios financiers BCE/INPI” dataset and BODACC notices), activity reports the platforms publish as crowdfunding intermediaries (“intermédiaires en financement participatif”), shareholders' reports and the press. Pages archived by the Wayback Machine (archive.org) are used to date the remuneration models and to read the counter Tribee displays. Each source was saved on the day it was consulted. No figure has been interpolated; the only calculations are sums, growth rates, ratios between two published figures and the order of magnitude of part 2.

HelloAsso

Amount collected: annual activity reports 2018 to 202535 36 37 38 20 21 22 23 (all payments made to associations through its tools).

Revenue: filed accounts for 2016 and 2022 to 202442; press and annual report for 2015 and 2017 to 202141 43 44 45 46 47; accounts for 2017 to 2019 confidential, 2020, 2021 and 2025 not found58. Optional commissions (“tips”) declared by its shareholder, Crédit Mutuel Maine-Anjou Basse-Normandie, from 2019 to 202563 64 65 66 67 68 69 (IFRS standards, financial year ending 30 November until 2022).

Calculation: share received = revenue ÷ amount collected in the same year; for 2025, optional commissions declared by the shareholder ÷ amount collected.

Tribee

Amount collected and number of money pots: activity reports for 2023, 2024 and 202517 18 19. Revenue: filed accounts for 202251; €662,000 (2023) and €1.77 million (2024) declared in the report of its mission committee52; €3.3 million for 2025 according to its founder on the Radio Barbares podcast53, a figure repeated in the host’s LinkedIn post87. Accounts for 2023 confidential, 2024 and 2025 not found59.

The website states that 5% of each money pot is given to a charity74; this amount given, displayed live, is consistent with the reports (≈ 5% of the amount collected each year)88.

Le Pot Commun

Amount collected: activity reports 2022 to 202413 14 15 and press for 202516. Revenue: accounts of Lakooz, the company that ran the site, public from 2016 to 202048; the current company89 files a confidential income statement57 56. A founder mentions “€2 million in revenue” at the time of the takeover, at the end of 202349.

Model: service fees deducted on the payout transfer, “from 2.9% to 4%” until early 2024 then “from 0% to 6%”, shown on the home page3, until April 2026; since then, a prefilled optional commission, recorded in our September 2026 comparison4. The terms of use still describe a commission on the transfer90 75. Le Pot Commun is therefore kept out of the totals of optional-commission platforms, and out of the 2025 order of magnitude.

OnParticipe

Amount collected and number of projects: annual activity reports 2017 to 202526 27 28 29 30 5 6 7 8. Revenue: only the 2020 financial year is public50; 2021, 2023 and 2024 confidential, 2022 and 2025 not found55. The 2020 ratio (4.8%) is not used in the comparison.

Model: a commission of 3.9% per contribution, raised to 5% in autumn 2024, with a minimum of €0.90 per transaction, shown on the home page until January 20251; from March 2025, “Free money pot with no commission!”2. Its 2022 to 2024 amounts are therefore counted in the total of platforms studied but not in the optional-commission total; 2025 is counted there in full, although January and February still fell under the old model.

La Cagnotte des Proches

Amount collected: activity reports for 2018 to 2020, published under article R548-4 of the French Monetary and Financial Code (€111,000, €243,000 and €931,745)39, and the 2024 impact report, “nearly €4 million”24; no annual amount is published for 2021 to 2023. Accounts filed every year, all confidential60; the company says it broke even in 202478. No 2025 amount published: the platform is not in the 2025 total.

CotizUp, Donoor, WhyDonate, Leetchi.org

CotizUp: only the French company’s 2017 financial year is public54. Since 2021 the business has been run by an Irish company, Cotizup Limited, which files abridged accounts: a balance sheet and notes, with no profit and loss account and no revenue62. The notes give the year’s profit for 2021, its first year (€622,304), and for 2024 (€1,615,727). At the end of 2024, retained profits reach €2,578,471 and cash €2,956,630; Oise Hebdo presents this amount, accumulated since 2021, as the profit for 202491. At the end of 2025, equity stands at €2,740,118. With no published revenue, CotizUp is left out of the totals. Donoor: run by a sole trader, with no obligation to publish accounts; it states that about one donor in four chooses to support it92. WhyDonate: a Dutch company; it announces more than €20 million collected over one year, all countries combined93. Leetchi.org: launched on 4 November 202594; its amounts are not published separately from Leetchi’s.

Leetchi.com (for comparison)

Amounts collected declared from 2022 to 20259 10 11 12. Paid by a commission on withdrawal85, it is not included in the totals. The accounts of the company that ran the site until 2023 included the Mangopay payments business; the current company has not filed accounts95.

2025 order of magnitude

HelloAsso: €24.1 million in optional commissions (“tips”) declared by its shareholder for 202569. Tribee: €3.3 million in 2025 revenue declared by its founder53. OnParticipe: amount collected in 20258 multiplied by 2.43% (the lowest share observed in 2025, HelloAsso) and by 6.55% (the highest, Tribee19). The result is a range, which rests on the assumption that its share received lies within the interval observed at HelloAsso and Tribee; it is not a figure published by the companies concerned.

Limits

  • The amounts collected are declared by the platforms; none is publicly audited, and the definitions vary (money pots created, credited or active; users, contributors, donors).
  • A company's revenue can include products other than the optional commission, and financial years do not always match the calendar year (HelloAsso closed its accounts on 30 November in 2018 and 2019; its shareholder's figures, under IFRS, cover financial years ending on 30 November until 2022).
  • Each year is attached to the model documented by the platform's public or archived pages. A year in which the model changed is attached to the model in force for most of that year (OnParticipe 2025).
  • The 2025 order of magnitude applies to OnParticipe the shares observed at HelloAsso and Tribee; the resulting range is a hypothesis, not the revenue of the company, whose accounts are not public. Tribee's 2025 revenue is an oral statement, not filed accounts.
  • This report relies only on published figures: it gives a first sketch of an analysis. The administrative authorities, which have access to the companies' full accounts, can compare revenue and amount collected directly for each platform and each period.
  • The platforms studied do not cover the whole online money pot market: other players, such as Lydia or the money pots offered by banks, do not publish a comparable amount. The totals in this report are therefore those of the platforms studied, not the size of the market.
  • Several platforms (CotizUp, Donoor, WhyDonate, Leetchi.org) publish no usable annual amount: they appear in the table of revenue sources, but not in the totals.
